1:30 pm - Dr Roger New of Sheffield Hallam University who will be telling us about the search for other Earth-like planets

3:00 pm - Professor Don Kurtz of the University of Central Lancashire who will be showing some of the latest Hubble pictures
A planetarium - book a place as soon as you arrive as there are limited spaces per session
Driving a radio-controlled rover over a Mars-like surface, simulating real Mars Rovers
Society solar telescopes set up to view the Sun safely during the day
Crater making using various sized rocks dropped into sand trays with a webcam to watch and record the results
"Paint a Planet" activities for younger children
A "How much do I weigh on other planets" activity
Supervised badge making where children design their own space badge
Society telescopes will be on view to show the variety in telescope design
Planet making using paper icosohedron templates
Simple science toys (eg. sound makers, light creators)
Launching of "Pop" rockets using fizzing tablets and small film canisters
